Ötzi, the ice mummy, was found by hikers on the Hauslabjoch in Schnalstal in 1991. His new home is in the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology in Bozen. The “Iceman” is one of the oldest mummies in the world, estimated to be over 5,000 years old. In the 3-storey museum you can see not only the particularly well-preserved ice mummy and the original finds that went with it, but also the lifelike reconstruction of the Iceman.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00. Closed on Mondays – except July, August and December.
